Toyota Company History
The Toyota Motor Co. Ltd (TMC) was founded in the year 1933, by Kiichiro Toyoda. In fact, the new company was launched as a spin-off from the earlier company,
Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. This new division look after the production section of automobiles. But it was only in 1937, from when the company started functioning independently.

The company produced its first Type A engine in 1934, its first car and the G1 truck in 1935. The Type A engine was used in the first Model A1 passenger car. The production of the second car, Model AA started in 1936. Model AA has the design based on Chrysler Airflow’s but with some basic inputs from the Chevrolet. The company came in the main limelight during the late 50's. The production increased to almost 10 folds during 1955 10 1961. |

Around 211,000 cars were sold per year. The first car that was fully developed by the company was the Crown of 1955.
Toyota owns different manufacturing or assembly plants all across the world including the United States, Japan, Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Poland, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, France, Brazil, and more recently Pakistan, India, Argentina, Czech Republic, Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand, China and Venezuela.
The first Toyota vehicle that was built outside Japan was the Land Cruiser FJ-251. It was developed in Brazil in 1959. In 2005, it was the 4th largest auto company in the world in terms of sales. It recorded a sales of $135.82 billion. In May 2006, it became number three in total sales in the US. In June 2006, Toyota surpassed Ford and became the second largest maker of automobiles in the US.
The biggest achievement in recent years is the establishment of the Lexus brand, which is a luxurious car division competing with Mercedes and BMW. Launched in 1989, the LS400 immediately outsold its competitors in the US.
The Toyota Avalon
The Avalon is the most luxurious vehicle of all the Toyota models launched till date in the market. This is a full size car developed by Toyota in the United States. It is regarded as one of the best cars available in the world. The first Toyota Avalon was launched in Georgetown, Kentucky on February 21, 1994 as a 1995 model. The Avalon which was a top-of-line replacement for Cressida, was declared as the "Best Buy in the Luxury Car Segment" in within just one year of its launch. All the models of Avalon portray comfort, spaciousness and luxury A second generation model was released both in the United States and Japan in 1999.
The third generation began with the launch of 2005 Avalon. It is a complete redesign from the previous generations. It is Toyota's largest, most luxurious and even the most expensive model sold under its own nameplate. The vehicles are built exclusively at Toyota Motor Manufacturing (TMM) in Georgetown. The design and style of Avalon are developed keeping in mind the needs and desires of the American public. Most of the design of both the interior and exterior are finalized by the Toyota Technical Centers (TTC) in Michigan, Arizona and California.
